About Us

With Community In Mind

Our Mission

The Midlands of South Carolina Black Nurses Association (MIDSCBNA) is a chapter of the National Black Nurses Association (NBNA), established in 2019. Our mission aligns with the NBNA’s overarching goal to serve as the voice for Black nurses and diverse populations, ensuring equal access to professional development, promoting educational opportunities, and improving health outcomes. MIDSCBNA focuses on three strategic priorities: leadership development, mentoring, and advocacy.

Whatever adversely affects BLACK PEOPLE, wherever they may be, whoever they may be, affects us all.

Dr. Lauranne Sams, NBNA Founding President

National Black Nurses Association

Midlands Chapter

Chartered in 2019, the Midlands of South Carolina Black Nurses Association, Incorporated, is one of more than 100 chapters of the National Black Nurses Association. Our membership is comprised of licensed nurses, nursing students, and other health professionals. We also welcome non-nursing professionals to join as associate members.

Our monthly meetings are held on the third Thursday of the month, either virtually or in a hybrid format. Our three strategic priorities are leadership, mentoring, and advocacy. We are active in the community and participate in many events. Our signature event is an annual scholarship and awards luncheon held in December.
